Casel (2020) – Wheel of Competencies
Social Emotional Learning is in it’s bare essence refers to learned skills needed to function in a healthy manner within society (life skills) as well as to cope with one’s own emotional state.
Research has shown that the development of these social emotional competencies, outlined above by CASEL (2020), lead to stronger resiliency skills. Results surrounding strong resiliency qualities in children and youth correlate to a better state of both mental and physical health.
Sports + SEL = Great Development
Sports and recreational programming have so many positive benefits in the healthy development of children and youth. From teamwork, to cooperation, to empathy, determination, the skills seen as part of the active for life programming offered in Canada are extensive.
